entertain one evening next year.  There is also a possibility that we may be able to play in the Mall one lunchtime.  This would be good publicity for the club.

There are quite a few music festivals coming up in the New Year.  The Wai Worrie Country Muster at Aranga is on the week-end of 5-7 January.  The official lead up to this is a night of country music at the legendary Kaihu Tavern on Thursday, 4 January at 6.00 pm - smorgasboard meal $20 per person. This is always a fantastic night and there’s plenty of parking for campervans at the local rugby grounds.  Ray Taylor and Bruce Stenhouse will be part of the band.

Next up is the Marton Country Music Festival on 19-21 January and Jan and Leeanne will be per-forming at this.

The Branded Country Music Fest is on at Napier and Hastings from 24-28 January.  The 24-25 is at the Taradale Club, Napier and the 26-28 is at the Hastings Racecourse, where there’s ample on-site parking for motorhomes/caravans for $20 for the five days and toilets and hot showers are also available.  A five day pass costs $40.  There will be special guest artists performing throughout the week-end (see poster on board).

Just a short note to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year.  Enjoy the break and we’ll see you all again in January 2018.  Keep well until then

Cheers     Lyn

Hi Everyone

November has been a quieter month at club.  It was nice to have Bruce drumming for us on the 19th and we also had a couple of visitors that day, but not a big audience.

Didn’t the men do a great job in the kitchen though – thank you Ray and Don.  They’ve obviously been well trained!  It was good to see Bev Gravatt at club again and I’m pleased to hear that Wilkie’s husband, Bruce, although still in Auckland hospital, is progressing steadily.

Murray was very pleased with his CD launch and felt that it went exceptionally well.  Everyone had a great

night, there were lots of lucky ticket draws and lots of good music.

I saw quite a few club members at the Isla Grant concert a couple of weeks ago.  Isla is so relaxing to listen to and has written some beautiful songs. That was another great night and what a wonderful musician Glen Flynn is.  As well as the guitar, he also played the mandolin, steel and piano accordion, while her husband, of course, was playing bass.

Murray has been talking to the Whangarei Cruising Club and they may be interested in having our band and selected singers to

Finally, the Taranaki Country Music Festival will be held at the Waitara

Hall from 16-18 February - $40 for a three day pass.  There will be stalls

inside and out and there will be food available for purchase at the hall throughout the week-end.  Parking will be available in the school grounds for motorhomes/caravans ($10 for the week-end) and the school toilets

will be open 24/7.  There will be overseas artists at this festival, as well as top New Zealand artists (see poster on board).
